Grant Funds Financial Education Programs for Veterans, Military ...

Newton-based American Consumer Credit Counseling has received a $7,850 grant from Natick-based Middlesex Community Savings Bank on Monday. The bank has two branches in Framingham.

The grant will fund a free, comprehensive financial education program called Connecting 4 Military Financial Health (C4MFH) that will serve military personnel, families, and veterans across Massachusetts. Participants in C4MFH will receive free one-on-one sessions with ACCC?s certified financial counselors, which will help them manage all aspects of their finances, including budgeting, saving, and debt repayment.

?This is a terrific opportunity for us to give something back to our nation?s servicemen and women, and we?re very grateful to Middlesex Community Savings Bank for helping us this program a reality,? said Steve Trumble, President of American Consumer Credit Counseling in a press relase. ?As a society, we don?t do as good a job as we should making sure the military community gets what it needs financially. Soldiers who sacrifice for this nation overseas deserve to return home to a stable financial situation, and we?re honored to be able to help them out.?

ACCC expects to help more than 600 soldiers, veterans, and military families throughout the Commonwealth manage their finances through the education program.

C4MFH is part of ACCC?s larger CounselorConnect initiative, a one-of-a-kind program that allows clients to sit down free of charge with an ACCC financial counselor and leave with a personalized financial health assessment report that takes their income, expenses and debts into account.

ACCC, a 501(c)3 organization, provides free credit counseling, bankruptcy counseling, and housing counseling to consumers nationwide in need of financial literacy education and money management.
