The Tanaiste?s insisting that a separation of banking and sovereign debt is crucial to resolve the eurozone crisis.

France and Germany are still far apart in their approach to what needs to be done.

But Eamon Gilmore says a European wide solution is what?s needed.

Two men have been remanded in custody after appearing before Blanchardstown District Court charged in connection with the biggest inland drugs seizure of cocaine in this country.

Gareth Hopkins from Beech Park in Leixlip, and Abraham Shodiya, with an address at Carnlough Road in Cabra, have been charged with the possession of cocaine for sale or supply.

42-year-old Abraham Shodiya is charged with four counts of possessing cocaine for sale of supply last Tuesday at the carpark at the Maldron Hotel in Tallght, and at Ballycoolin Industrial Estate.

His co-accused, 32-year-old Garth Hopkins from Leixlip is facing two charges of having drugs for sale or supply at Ballycoolin Industrial Estate.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear again in Court next week.

Welfare centres have been set up at hotels in Clonakilty and Glanmire in County Cork for families flooded out of their homes following last night?s torrential rain.

The clean-up operation is underway across Cork city and county after after the flooding affected dozens of homes and businesses.

The flood waters are receding and Met Eireann says the worst of the bad weather has passed.

Among those affected was a teenager who suffered an electrical shock from an ESB cable while helping with flood protection work in Clonakilty.

A businessman has been convicted of sexually assaulting a woman despite his claims that he was overcome with an ?irresistible urge? due to a combination of alcohol, cholesterol medicine and cough syrup.

53 year old aviation broker Anthony Lyons of Griffith Avenue in Dublin looked down as the jury unanimously found him guilty of the attack on a 27-year-old woman on October 3rd, 2010.

The verdict came after several hours of deliberations at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The US Supreme Court has ruled that President Obama?s controversial healthcare reform act is constitutional.

Five out of the nine judges who sit on the Supreme court bench voted to uphold the new law compelling US citizens to buy health insurance ? or face a fine.

Twelve US states had challenged the legislation ? on the grounds that Congress could not force people to buy products from private companies.

However, the government argued that health insurance was exceptional ? and could not be compared to other consumer products.
